Surah al-Kahf: Ayah 49

‎وَوُضِعَ الْكِتَابُ فَتَرَى الْمُجْرِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا فِيهِ وَيَقُولُونَ يَا وَيْلَتَنَا مَالِ هَٰذَا الْكِتَابِ لَا يُغَادِرُ صَغِيرَةً وَلَا كَبِيرَةً إِلَّا أَحْصَاهَا وَوَجَدُوا مَا عَمِلُوا حَاضِرًا وَلَا يَظْلِمُ رَبُّكَ أَحَدًا

“And the Book of Records will be placed (in everyone’s hands), and you will see the criminals, fearful of that which is (recorded) therein.

They will say: ‘Woe to us! What sort of Book is this!

It has left nothing unrecorded of our doings, small or great!’ They will see before them everything, whatsoever they had done, and your Lord will not be unjust to anyone in the least.” (Surah al-Kahf: 49)

Subhaan Allaah...

What a profound Aayah!

On that Great Day, when we stand in front of our Rabb, each one of us will be given our Book of Records...our ‘Saved History’

And NO ONE would escape it.

Do you know what that Book will contain?

It will contain EVERY SINGLE THING that we EVER DID.

And EVERY SINGLE WORD that we EVER SAID.

It will contain the doings and dealings of our ENTIRE LIFE!

There will be no denying it...no hiding from it.

There will be no way to ‘delete’ it.

It will all be there. PLAIN and SIMPLE and CLEAR for us to see.....

FILLED with every single word, every single LETTER that ever came out of our mouth....

every single forbidden gaze we enjoyed....

every single thing we murmured and thought no one heard....

Every single deed we did and thought no one saw....

Even the very BREATHS that we ever took.....

That’s why when Imaam Ahmad was on his death bed, groaning with pain because of the agonies of death, someone said to him:

“Don’t you know that even the groaning and moaning will be written in our Book of Deeds?”

After that, no one heard even a single SOUND from Imaam Ahmad until he passed away.

Subhaan Allaah!

🍃 Al-Dhahabi said:

“Ataa b. Abi Rabaah once said:

Those before you used to consider idle talk to be anything other than the Book of Allaah, or the enjoining of good, or the forbidding of evil, or speaking for the sake of your basic living needs.

Do you deny that there are recording angels appointed over you?

Sitting on your right and your left? Never is a word said except there is an observer prepared to record?

Are you not afraid (ashamed) that your record of words and deeds be spread open only to discover that there is nothing of the hereafter in it?”

(Siyar A’laam Al-Nubalaa` 5:86)

Dear brothers and sisters,

Our words,

our actions,

our sounds,

our very breaths are being written all day and all night and we don’t care.

We read Surah al-Kahf every Friday.

We pass by this Aayah every week and yet we don’t even pay attention.

How will WE be when OUR Book of Records will be given to each of us?

What will we say?

What will we SEE written for us there?

So THINK about this Aayah the next time you come to it when reading Surah al-Kahf.

REFLECT on the meanings.

CONTEMPLATE on what it implies.

Then BRING A CHANGE in your words, in your actions, in your thoughts, in your life...

Don't just “READ” Surah al -Kahf every Friday....

🔺UNDERSTAND.

🔺REFLECT.

🔺IMPLEMENT.

🔺CHANGE.
