đż ANSWERđż Some people âclaimâ that thereâs a special prayer to be read on the night of the first Friday in Rajab, between Maghrib and âIshaa. They call it âSalaat al-Raghaaâibâ But thereâs NO EVIDENCE in the Shareeâah that would prove that such a prayer even existed at the time of the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam. Thereâs NO Aayah in the Qurâaan about it. Thereâs NO authentic hadeeth about it. The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam NEVER read it. The Sahaabah NEVER read it. The Imaams and scholars of Islaam after them never read it. So if thereâs no basis for this prayer in the Shareeâah, then why would anyone want to read it? Rather, this prayer is an innovation in the Pure Deen of Allaah and is therefore NOT allowed to be read. In fact thereâs NO EVIDENCE for ANY âspecial prayersâ in the month of Rajab. đş ANY act of ibaadah thatâs not proven from the authentic practice or teachings of the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam is a very grave mistake and the act of ibaadah will NOT be accepted. đ The Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam said: âWhoever performs a deed that is not in accordance with our matter, it will be rejected.â (al-Bukhaari, Muslim) đşWHAT EVER has been going around on social media about âspecial prayersâ or duaas or adhkaar for the month of Rajab are ALL MADE UP. Theyâre FAKE and NOT authentic. đ Imaam an-Nawawi said: âThe prayer which is known as salaat al-raghaaâib... and praying one hundred rakâahs on the night of Nusf Shaâbaan (halfway through Shaâbaan) are both reprehensible innovations. May Allaah CURSE the one who fabricated and introduced that, for it is a reprehensible innovation, one of the innovations which constitute misguidance and ignorance, and it involves obvious evils.â (al-Majmooâ (3/548) and Sharh Muslim) Subhaan Allaah! Allaahâs CURSE! Some VERY STRONG words for people to ponder over! đImaam Ibn Taimiyyah said: âAs for innovating a prayer which is done regularly with a certain number of rakâahs, with a certain recitation and at a certain time in congregation, like these prayers that are being asked about here â such as salaat al-raghaaâib on the first Friday of Rajab, and halfway through Shaâbaan, and the night of the twenty-seventh of Rajab, and so on â these are NOT prescribed in Islam, according to the CONSENSUS of the imaams of Islaam, as was stated by the reliable scholars. No one established such a thing but those who are ignorant and innovators. Things like this open the door to changing the laws and rituals of Islam and becoming like those who instituted things which Allaah has not ordained.â (Al-Fataawa al-Kubra, 2/239) đAnd he said: âThis prayer was NOT offered by the Messenger of Allaah Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam or by any of the Sahaabah or the Taabiâeen or the imams of the Muslims. The Messenger of Allaah Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam did NOT enjoin it and neither did any of the salaf or imams. They did not suggest that this night has any virtue for which it should be singled out. The hadeeth which is narrated concerning that from the Prophet Sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa Sallam is false and fabricated, according to scholarly consensus. Hence the scholars said that it is forbidden and not mustahabb.â (Al-Fataawa al-Kubra, 2/262) May Allaah guide us and enable us to TRULY follow the teachings of the Prophet sal Allaahu Alayhi wa sallam Ameen And Allaah knows best
