Is it good to make duaa in between the two Khutbahs of Friday?

ANSWER

The Prophet ﷺ said that there’s a special time on Fridays when duaa will be answered.

🍃He ﷺ said:

“On Friday there is an hour when, if a Muslim happens to pray at that time and ask Allaah for something good, He will give it to him. And he indicated with his hand that the time is very short.”

(al-Bukhaari 935, Muslim 852)

But the Prophet ﷺ did not specify exactly WHEN this hour would be.

But many of the scholars are of the opinion that this time is from the time when the Imaam sits on the minbar until the end of the prayer.

And this includes when the Imaam sits in between the two Khutbahs.

🍃 That’s because the Prophet ﷺ said regarding the special hour on Friday:

“It is between the time when the Imaam sits down until the prayer is over.” (Muslim 853)

So it’s good and recommended to make duaa, dhikr, Istighfaar etc in the time between the two Khutbahs.

But there’s no “specific” dhikr to be said.

There’s no proof of any particular words or duaas to be said at this time, from the authentic practice or teachings of the Prophet ﷺ.

Rather, ANY good words, duaas, Istighfaar, Durood etc can be said.

🍃 Shaikh Ibn Uthaymeen said about making a specific duaa or dhikr at this time:

“There is no specific dhikr or du’aa’, rather a person may say whatever supplication he wants, because this is a time when duaas are answered.

So one should make the most of this opportunity and say Duaa’ between the two khutbahs, asking for whatever he wants of the good things of this world and the Hereafter.

The same may also be said of the Imaam; he should say Duaa’ between the two khutbahs but it should be silent, asking for whatever he wants of things in this world and in the Hereafter.”

🔺Should we raise our hands when making Duaa in the pause between the two Khutbahs?

🍃Shaikh Ibn ul-‘Uthaymeen said:

“One can raise his hands because the origin for supplication is raising the hands.

There is no harm in that and if one made supplication without raising his hands then there is no harm.”
